Does that sound weird coming from me?
It probably does, but here’s the thing: coaching shouldn’t be codependent. Your coach should be a partner who helps and supports you as you work towards your goals, not someone you rely on to tell you what to do. The beauty of doing this work to create the life you want is that you get to choose what that looks like, so don’t let someone else define it for you.
Do you know what has to happen for you to stop being dependent on your coach? You have to trust yourself. It’s scary, I know.
In this episode, I’m talking about how to be less dependent on your coach, and then I’m sharing 6 tips to help you start trusting yourself.
What We Cover in This Episode:
- Why you shouldn’t be codependent on any experts in your life
- Coaching vs. therapy
- What my past relationships with coaches have been like
- The importance of working with people who make you feel safe
- How a coach should help you
- What to consider when you’re looking for a coach
- How to trust yourself
- Defining happiness and success for yourself
I want you to reflect on your past definitions of happiness and success vs. your definition now. It’s probably changed over the last 1, 5, or 10 years. Honor that change. We are evolving humans whose lives and priorities shift over time. Trust yourself to know what’s best for you now.
